Bundles 09:56
Oh, pick me up I'm this bundle of sticks Tied with the stems of clover and brambles Oh, pick me up I'm this bundle Wrapped in shrouds of muscle Patched with cedars and shadows Patched for a million miles And waiting like a praying mantis To be found by a curious child Those tiny ones with open-eyed wonder Like the jaws of a yawning coyote Or a cactus blooming early And loving dawn like a mother And loving dawn like a mother And wishing that rain was the answer And loving dawn like a mother And loving dawn like a mother And wishing that rain was the answer And in curious jars we're spinning and spinning Spinning, spinning, spinning into sickness Spinning, spinning, spinning into sickness And singing for stillness Spinning, spinning, spinning into sickness Spinning, spinning, spinning into sickness And making up a still bed, making up a still bed So I'm notching my spine With thorns pulled from your thumb Notching my spine with thorns pulled from your thumb And I am swallowing my I'm swallowing my bees down I'm buckling my I'm buckling my knees up I'm eating my own hide to hide in my own skin I'm eating my own hide to hide in my own skin Till I am left a-hanging Upside down and draining Like skinned does dangling From a hunter's oak limb Like my sisters, those does, woven in red shrouds Wearing bare ribbons of tightly wrapped muscles And bearing the burden of being that gift from the forest That turns humans wooden when opened So can you, can you, can you tell me? So can you, can you, can you tell me? If it's easier to be emptier but lighter If it's easier to be the lantern or the fire If it's easier to be a lover or an echo If it's easier to be the bull or the fighter And if it's easier to die by arrows or by tigers If it's easier to fly by monarchs or by sparrows By monarchs or by sparrows Let me know And there's a grizzly bearing in me There's a grizzly bearing in me And in you and in us and in we And in you and in us and in we Grizzly paws hide me Grizzly paws hold me Grizzly cradles me Raising me like an offering Of a bundle of sticks to the sun Of a bundle of sticks to the sun Of a bundle of sticks to the sun, to the sun Now I'm sewing, sewing, sewing medicine bundles With grass threads and porcupine quills I'm filling them up with galaxy beams With all the stars you've snuffed And all the ghosts you've been And with every shape you've morphed And all the trees you've stumped And I'm filling them up with all the blood Your heart has pumped and pumped And with all of the love that your mouth has rushed With all of the voices that your ears have rung And with all of the life that your dirt has sprung And with all of the magic that your gardens have grown I'm filling up these bundles with all the seeds You've sewn, and sewn, and sewn And all the roots you've webbed and all the wind You've blown, and blown, and blown All the roots you've webbed and all the wind you've blown And I'm filling up these bundles with all the twins you've born And with every brother lost and all the organs you've loaned With every brother lost and all the organs you've loaned Pick us up we're these bundles Tied with the stems of clover and brambles Oh, pick us up we're these bundles Wrapped in shrouds of muscle

Two Tongues 06:55
Can you tell us the place where the elders chew the sky soft? And the place where love is like a perfectly quelled arrow flown from bows of pure willow And under (and under) The thundering roll of ghost buffalo (the thundering roll of ghost buffalo) Can't you hear the world's heart breaking? For it's a test of courage to kiss the snake tongued people The fork tongue'ed people Yes, it's a test of courage to kiss the snake tongued people the fork tongue'ed people cause' it's like two tongues at one time like two tongues at one time it's like two tongues at one time like two tongues at one time it's like two tongues at one time like bitter spirits and sweet wine like two tongues at one time at one time so pour all of your souls like magma into the caverns pour all of your souls like magma into the caverns and pour em' all for the haunting the haunting, the haunting and pour em' all for the haunting the haunting, the haunting and pour em' all for the haunting and cool down for the haunting and harden for the haunting Now granite soul you're a haunter a haunter hunting children of the wild plains and now granite soul you're a haunter a haunter hunting children of the wild plains and if my greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgrandma could find them she would put all of their poisoned all of their poisoned, poised teeth in her medicine bag in her medicine bag She'd make a graph of our death-beat pulse, murmur, quiet, pulse, murmur, quiet like hiding pheasants in the tall grass Now there's faces in the rocks and they're coming on strong Faces in the rocks with medicine tongues Faces in the rocks feels like a million to one Woman and man in the moon with a cradle born son Braided round close til' all warmth is gone goOoOoOoOoone So here take these blankets Here take these blankets Here take these blankets They're woven from the hair of the dead The hair from your sisters hair from your brothers hair from your lovers hair from the beavers hair from the otters The hair from your lovers hair from your fathers hair from your lovers hair from the beavers hair from the otters And we, we saw through you like a candle through a buffalo's eye We, we stood by you like a mama bear shot with her cub's at her side And we, we saw through you like a candle through a buffalo's eye.

Bravitzlana Rubakalva is a country I made for us Bravitzlana Rubakalva, our very own country In Bravitzlana Rubakalva we will build cabins of redwood heart and old elm eyes floors and walls of crystal And we will sing around the fiery tree stumps we will play the woods and in Bravitzlana Rubakalva Our grey hair, it will not burn No, no, our grey hair it will not burn And we will, and we will We will drop our lanterns in the darkness We will dance all bright and fire and we will drop our lanterns in the darkness we will dance all bright and fire and we will waltz with them red flickers red, orange, red, one, two one, two, three, one, two, three.. Bravitzlana Rubakalva, our very own country Bravitzlana Rubakalva There we have see-through bellies Where we can, where we can Were we can watch all the miracles happening and we can watch our organs clapping and we can, and we can and we can watch our bread dissolving and we can watch our cells dividing and we can see our babies floating and we can watch them form from nothing sit back and just watch them form from nothing we can, and we can, and we can, and we can, and we can, and we can and we can, and we can, we can watch our blood a-rushing rushing past the walls of our canyons and we can watch each other's muscles dancing as we lay in each other's arms Because in Bravitzlana Rubakalva Our arms ain't attached to bodies

Wild Eyes 09:21
Tiny darling ghost holder Tiny darling ghost holder You our soft spirit breather You our bark skinned weaver Remember you could weep fire Remember you could weep fire with wild eyes With wild eyes, oh those wild eyes If you ring your cells like bells in a garden You plant your burdens way deep down in And water them daily from wells of salty Guilt for sons who pollinate the deadly That wild eye, oh that wild eye Papa my pine whistler sparrow-eyed sun misser Papa my pine whistler sparrow-eyed moon blisser Mama my jaw clincher spirit mouthed ghost dancer Mama my vein braider thousand year bone burner Mama my tongue twister thousand pronged antlers Mama my tongue twister thousand pronged antlers Mama my vein braider thousand pronged antlers, antlers And oh her wild eyes, oh her wild eyes So I will ring my cells like bells as you Bind your father's molecules with roots of silver Pierce him cedars with eyes like fingers Picking bloody flowers His wild eyes, oh his wild eyes Papa my pine whistler sparrow-eyed sun misser Papa my pine whistler sparrow-eyed moon blisser Mama my jaw clincher spirit mouthed ghost dancer Mama my vein braider thousand year bone burner Mama my tongue twister thousand pronged antlers Mama my tongue twister thousand pronged antlers Mama my vein braider thousand pronged antlers, antlers And oh her wild eyes, oh her wild eyes Tiny green moss collector Sweet tiny green moss collector Remember you could catch fire Remember you could catch fire with wild eyes With wild eyes, oh with those wild eyes And once the river is rolling lower We'll gather lichen from the boulders We'll keep it dry inside our lockets We'll put this town down into our pockets We'll try... To leave these branch arms behind The swaying hands of pines Their needles tugging at your skin Trying to pull you back deep in their wooden womb Of a hundred hearts hanging, suspended, moth-eaten Those muscles the size of your fist All floating around your head Not knowing who they're a loving Not knowing how fast they're a pumping Not knowing how hard they're a beating Not knowing who they're a punching Those muscles the size of your fist All floating around your head And throwing punches like we throw the stones to The bottom of river beds Who knows whose next To watch from under the currents The rapids rapidly raging while rapid While we're rapidly blinking our wild Our wild eyes

Friendboats 03:39
Send some friendboats made from wood bones For all that I have known has rowed away from this coast And carve me a mask from the safety of their decks Make me a dress from their masts For I have never known such missing of that breaking water No, I have never known such missing of that breaking water No, I have never known Such missing of that breaking water So when I go please, when i am gone When I go Please, when I am gone Then, burn me with their bows Toss some saving golden ropes to Let us set anchor so far away from this coast Then close off this darkness with curtains of sails And cast it forever into the chests of the whales For I have never known such missing of that breaking water No, I have never known such missing of that breaking water No, I have never known Such missing of that breaking water So when I go Please, when I am gone When I go Please, When I am gone Then burn me with their bows
